  • The British summer is full of weather related sartorial challenges. One of the perennial problems is that suede shoes, perfect with a candy stripe seersucker summer trouser, are not best suited to the sudden downpours of torrential rain that accompany any snatched sunshine.

The ensuing city grime, murky splashes, and smudges from other people’s shoes all create suede havoc. Help is at hand from Woly. Woly make a terrific range of leather cleaning supplies, including what appears at first glance to be an outsize old-school eraser (that literally rubs out dirt) and a peculiar rubberised sponge for absorbing greasy marks.

If you own suede shoes, you need Woly in your life. We get ours from the delightful Barbican Dry Cleaners where they also stock a full range of protective waterproof sprays and splendid Woly coloured shoe creams (more on these later).

  • If, like me, you use your iPad in the kitchen, either as an online recipe book or to catch up on BBC news while making the perfect risotto, then you will be needing one of these very handy splashproof stands.
Originally designed for cookbooks (arguably less fond of grease and kitchen slime than your iPad) these perspex kitchen stands will prop up your iPad and keep it safe from flying debris as you cook up a storm.
